On April 21, 1836, a band of ragged Texian troops
under the command of General Sam Houston surprised and defeated the far
superior forces of Mexican despot President Generalisimo Antonio Lopez de Santa
Anna along the banks of the San Jacinto River.
Santa Anna’s eye for women and Emily Morgan’s allegiance to Texas proved
to be a fatal combination for Mexico.
Sam Houston’s daring afternoon attack was prompted by messages
originated from within Santa Anna’s own tent, for the beautiful Emily Morgan
was a Texian spy. The Emily Morgan Hotel
is dedicated to the romantic legend of Emily Morgan, The Yellow Rose of Texas.
I love this beautiful building, the Emily Morgan Hotel.
