Carrizozo, New Mexico

This town is one of the reasons I like to drive everywhere - you miss too much if you fly!  I was passing through this town and it was so charming.  I stayed a while and there were some great, old buildings.  The town looked like it was some kind of artists' community.  I loved it.

 

The best part of this little town was the donkeys.  A lot of communities make statues of something unique to their town. Artists paint them, then they put them in front of businesses.  (Miami had Flamingos.)  It's fun to find them all and see how they are painted.
